EARLY LIFE

I grew up in St. Louis Park, Minnesota with my mom, dad, and older sister. My mom gave me her love for music and imagination, and my dad, an Ethiopian immigrant, passed down his athleticism and soccer-obsessed genes. During my childhood, I wanted to become a professional musician or soccer player. I eventually learned to play piano, guitar, flute, and viola, spending much of my time traveling to compete in various competitions to pursue my goals. However, at age 12, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Scoliosis. This propelled me into three years of wearing a back brace and having to re-learn things that were once natural to me. Despite this physical setback, I was grateful for overall good health and a loving support system.

ABOUT ME

I graduated from The University of Minnesota Duluth with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and additional Music Minor studies. Throughout my career, I have produced a variety of content from brand logos to animations, print deliverables, ads, and social graphics. Some of my favorite projects include editing vehicle images for Subaru, producing signage for Caribou Coffee, and developing fresh branding elements for the Minnesota Twins' 2019 season. The ability to bring joy to others through design is what fuels me. My strengths lie in illustration, branding, and photo editing, however, I have recently been expanding my skills into video editing and web design.

WHAT I LOVE

Due to the physical constraints of wearing a back brace, I began to dabble in artistic outlets to express myself. This is when I discovered video editing, which lit a fire in me. I began watching YouTube videos and following tutorials for various software programs (shoutout to Windows Movie Maker). While spending hours creating my own videos and illustrations, I realized that digital media was my path. Although Graphic Design is now my full-time career, I still find time to prioritize my health and other interests. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, editing videos for my YouTube channel, playing soccer with friends, and watching an absurd amount of wildlife documentaries.
