ABOUT
Kahve Coffee ("Kahve" meaning "coffee" in the Turkish language) is a fictional coffee brand inspired by my 2015 Study Abroad experience living in Ankara, Ismir, and Istanbul, Turkey. During this trip, I was introduced to the country's rich coffee culture. The introduction of the beverage to Turkey dates back to the 16th century, as coffeehouses became staples for reading, political discourse, social interaction, and art. Kahve Coffee ("kahve" being the Turkish word for coffee) illustrates this vibrant history through architectural patterns and bold colors. Nature motifs are incorporated in the brand such as leaves and flowers, reminiscent of intricate Iznik tile patterns that adorn important buildings and spaces throughout the country. The bright pink hues are both a nod to the red color on the Turkish flag and the bright characters and buildings I saw each morning on my walks to class. In contrast, the blues are reminiscent of Istanbul nights, socializing over coffee with locals and friends.
